Juneteenth Fact:

"Emancipation Park"

Located in Houston, TX. This 10-acre land was purchased by former slaves to be used as a memory and site for future celebrations. The purchasers were Richard Allen, Richard Brock, Jack Yates, and Elias Dibble for $800 in 1872.  It became the only public park and swimming pool in Houston open to all African-Americans.
